Skin Booster & Mesotherapy Hydration Treatment in Ho Chi Minh City
Glass skin treatments and mesotherapy are common and effective methods for delivering hydration to different layers of the skin, helping it look plump, smooth, and dewy.
Medically reviewed by Dr Quynh Trang, Dermatologist (HCMC)
Glass Skin & Mesotherapy includes three treatment levels designed to replenish hydration at different skin depths, such as iontophoresis, intensive skin-repair and hydration treatments, and the delivery of active ingredients into the mid-dermal layer using mesotherapy/BAP techniques. The appropriate level of hydration and treatment method will be determined by the doctor based on your skin condition, goals, and budget.
This page is about hydration and skin quality only. Structural ageing — laxity, lines, sagging — is a different problem with different tools, covered under high-tech skin rejuvenation. Mesotherapy is also used for goals that have nothing to do with glow: acne mesotherapy, scar mesotherapy and mesotherapy for hair loss share the micro-injection technique but use different actives for different indications.
How it works

What Is Glass Skin?
Glass skin refers to well-hydrated skin, which reflects skin quality rather than the degree of skin aging. This “water content,” or more precisely, skin hydration, can be assessed by a dermatologist using a skin analysis device, which provides an estimated measurement based on the individual’s skin condition. When the stratum corneum is adequately hydrated, corneocytes remain closely packed and relatively flat, creating a more continuous skin surface. As a result, light is reflected in a more uniform direction, producing a smooth, dewy appearance. In contrast, dehydrated skin tends to have a rougher stratum corneum due to fine scaling, which reduces the appearance of a dewy glow. Two key components help maintain skin hydration: endogenous hyaluronic acid in the dermis, which binds water, and the outer lipid barrier, which helps prevent excessive transepidermal water loss.

Iontophoresis – Needle-Free Hydration
As the name suggests, needle-free hydration treatments do not use needles and are non-invasive. They do not cause skin injury or require downtime, allowing you to resume normal activities immediately. Iontophoresis uses a very low-intensity electrical current to drive charged hydrating molecules through the skin barrier. Multilayer hydration treatments, on the other hand, use suction and hydrodynamic pressure to cleanse superficial comedones, remove dead skin cells, and infuse hydrating solutions into the freshly cleansed skin surface. The skin may appear softer, smoother, and more dewy immediately after the treatment. However, regular treatments are needed to maintain the skin’s hydrated, dewy appearance, as environmental factors and hormonal changes can continuously increase stratum corneum thickness and reduce skin radiance.

Hydrating Mesotherapy (Microinjection Mesotherapy)
Mesotherapy is a technique that delivers small amounts of hydrating substances into the dermis through multiple, very superficial microinjections distributed evenly across the treatment area rather than concentrated in one spot. This allows the active ingredients to be delivered directly into the layer containing blood vessels and fibroblasts, potentially providing greater efficacy than conventional topical application. The injected solution may contain hyaluronic acid (HA), vitamins, and peptides. The specific formulation is determined by the doctor based on the individual’s skin needs. The results are cumulative and typically become more apparent over multiple treatment sessions rather than after a single session. After injection, small, non-red and non-painful papules may appear in the treated area. These are caused by residual product that has not yet been fully absorbed. The skin usually returns to a smooth appearance within 1–2 days.

HA Skin Booster – Hydrating Treatment for Skin Quality
HA skin boosters are delivered into the skin using a technique similar to mesotherapy, but the formulation consists of purified hyaluronic acid (HA) with a selected molecular size designed to remain in the dermis longer and retain water locally. While mesotherapy primarily focuses on skin nourishment and addressing specific skin concerns, skin boosters target skin hydration and elasticity. As a result, the hydrating effect may last longer, with treatment sessions typically spaced further apart. Treatment frequency and the number of sessions will be determined by the doctor based on skin analysis and individual response. In addition, the doctor may combine an NIR light-based treatment within the same treatment plan for skin that is both dehydrated and in need of collagen stimulation.

Who Should and Should Not Consider This Treatment?
Suitable candidates: - Dry or dehydrated skin, including oily skin that still feels tight or irritated after cleansing - Dull, rough skin after sun exposure - Thin or weakened skin following laser treatment, chemical peels, or the use of potent active ingredients - Skin requiring improved radiance Not suitable for: - Active inflammatory acne. Acne should be treated first. Introducing additional substances into inflamed skin does not treat acne and may increase the risk of spreading inflammation. - Active dermatitis, acute eczema, or infection at the intended treatment site - A known allergy to any of the ingredients intended for use - Pregnant or breastfeeding women Note: Patients taking prescription medications that may affect blood clotting should inform the doctor before consultation.

6 steps, clinically led
Step 1: Skin analysis, hydration measurement and barrier assessment
Your dermatologist images the skin in multiple layers, reads a hydration value for each zone — forehead, cheeks, periorbital area and chin rarely match — and assesses whether the barrier is intact or compromised. Those numbers are recorded so follow-up compares data, not impressions.
Step 2: Your dermatologist selects the tier and the actives
From the analysis, the doctor picks the appropriate tier — needle-free hydration, micro-injection mesotherapy or HA skin booster — selects actives to match your skin, estimates the number of sessions and quotes the full cost before you decide.
Step 3: Cleansing, disinfection and numbing
Makeup removal, deep cleansing and disinfection of the treatment area. For the micro-injection tiers, topical anesthetic is left on for its full working time; the needle-free tier skips numbing because it does not need it.
Step 4: The treatment, performed to the selected tier
The needle-free tier follows its cleanse–deliver–massage sequence over 60–110 minutes. The injection tiers are placed evenly across the mapped area, a very small dose per point, with sterile technique maintained throughout.
Step 5: Soothing, barrier support and in-clinic instructions
Skin is calmed with a mask or recovery layer matched to the tier just performed. Your coordinator walks you through what to do and avoid over the first 24 hours, including the signs that warrant a message to the clinic.
Step 6: Follow-up chat group and a review appointment that re-measures hydration
You are added to a private chat group with your treatment coordinator so you can send photos and ask questions between visits. The review appointment is scheduled by tier, and at that visit the dermatologist measures hydration again to decide whether to widen the interval or hold it.
Make results last
The first 24 hours
For microinjection treatments:
- Do not wear makeup during the first 24 hours, as the microinjection sites need time to close.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, prolonged exposure to heat, and strenuous exercise that causes heavy sweating until the following day.
- Small papules may appear after injection and are normal. They are usually non-red and painless and typically flatten within 1–2 days. Do not rub or massage the treated area to make them disappear.
For needle-free hydration treatments: Aftercare is generally less restrictive. Makeup can be reapplied once the skin has returned to its normal appearance and any temporary redness has subsided.
Days 2 to 5
Discontinue AHA, BHA, and retinol until your doctor advises you to resume them, as recently treated skin may respond differently to potent active ingredients. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser and cool water. Avoid rubbing the skin or using facial cleansing devices during the first week. Apply sunscreen daily, including when staying indoors.
Keeping hydration at home
The treatment can rapidly improve skin hydration, but maintaining the results long term requires consistent at-home skincare.
A two-step moisturizing routine—one layer to attract water and another to lock in moisture—is more effective than applying a single thick layer of cream. Avoid washing your face with hot water, as it can strip lipids from the skin barrier, a common factor that is often overlooked. If you spend most of the day in an air-conditioned environment, using a humidifier or simply placing a glass of water nearby to increase local humidity may also help.
How often should you repeat it?
There is no fixed treatment interval that applies to everyone. The doctor will recommend the appropriate follow-up schedule after the initial session.
Needle-free hydration treatments are typically performed every 2–4 weeks as directed, as the added hydration gradually decreases with the natural renewal cycle of the stratum corneum.
Microinjection treatments are typically scheduled every 3–4 weeks during the initial phase, then gradually spaced out based on the skin’s response. If hydration measurements remain stable at follow-up visits, the doctor may extend the interval rather than maintaining the initial schedule.
