How it works

What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is an innovative, non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to lift and tighten sagging skin. Unlike traditional surgical facelifts, which require incisions and downtime, Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to penetrate deep into the skin’s foundational layers, stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. Over time, this collagen regeneration results in firmer, more lifted skin on areas such as the face, neck, chin, and décolletage. As the only FDA-approved procedure for lifting skin on the neck, chin, and brow, Ultherapy is the gold standard in non-invasive skin rejuvenation, offering natural-looking results without the risks associated with surgery.

How Does Ultherapy Work?
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to penetrate deep into the skin, where collagen production occurs. A handheld device delivers precise ultrasound waves to targeted areas, bypassing the surface of the skin entirely, reaching depths typically only accessible by surgery. This energy stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, resulting in gradual lifting and tightening of the skin. Ultherapy’s real-time imaging feature allows dermatologists to precisely target specific skin layers, ensuring both safety and effectiveness, distinguishing it from other technologies like HIFU and Thermage.

Ultherapy vs. HIFU vs. Thermage: What’s the Difference?
Ultherapy: Uses micro-focused ultrasound with real-time imaging, allowing precise targeting of deep skin layers (up to 4.5mm). It’s ideal for lifting and tightening deeper tissues, especially around the face, neck, and décolletage. HIFU: Also uses ultrasound but without real-time imaging, making it less precise. HIFU focuses on more superficial layers, providing moderate tightening but less deep lifting compared to Ultherapy. Thermage: Utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat the skin and stimulate collagen. It’s effective for surface tightening but doesn’t penetrate as deeply as ultrasound-based treatments, making it better suited for mild skin laxity. In summary, Ultherapy is superior for deeper, more targeted lifting, while HIFU and Thermage are more effective for surface-level tightening.

Who is the Ideal Candidate for Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is ideal for individuals experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity—especially those who want to achieve a natural-looking lift without surgery. It is particularly effective for those with: - Sagging skin under the chin or along the jawline (often referred to as “jowls”) - Drooping brows or eyelids - Wrinkles and fine lines on the neck or chest - General skin laxity that causes the face to appear older or tired This treatment is perfect for clients looking for a preventive approach to aging or those not quite ready for a surgical facelift. If you’re unsure whether Ultherapy is right for you, our expert dermatologists at WEDO can assess your skin and recommend the best course of action.

Imaging and Skin Analysis with Advanced Technology
Before beginning the treatment, the doctor will take images and perform a skin analysis using advanced equipment to evaluate your current skin condition. This analysis helps detect any wrinkles, fine lines, and early signs of aging.
Consultation and Personalized Treatment Plan
After receiving the results from the skin analysis, the doctor will conduct a thorough consultation and provide a detailed treatment plan. The plan will include the treatment method, the number of sessions, expected results, and costs for the client to review and decide. Additionally, the client will be informed about the treatment process, duration, and necessary precautions before starting.
Cleansing the Treatment Area, Numbing, and Preparing Medical Instruments
Before starting the procedure, cleansing the treatment area is crucial. The doctor will remove any dirt and oil from the skin to ensure the smooth application of ULTHERAPY technology. Afterward, the client will be numbed to minimize discomfort during the treatment. At the same time, all medical instruments are prepared and sterilized for the procedure.
Removing Numbing Cream and Applying Gel Before Starting the Procedure
Once the numbing process is complete, the doctor will remove the numbing cream and apply a specialized gel to the treatment area. This gel helps transmit ultrasound waves into the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment.
Doctor Performs ULTHERAPY Rejuvenation Treatment
At this stage, the doctor will begin the ULTHERAPY rejuvenation treatment. The device will be gently moved across the skin's surface, emitting ultrasound waves according to the pre-determined treatment plan. Throughout the procedure, the doctor will continuously monitor the patient's condition to adjust the intensity and duration as needed. Clients may feel a gentle warmth and comfort, with no pain or discomfort.
Completing the Treatment
The Therapist will clean off the gel, relax the skin, and apply nourishing products and sunscreen for the client.
Post-Treatment Care Instructions
The doctor will provide post-treatment care instructions. The treatment specialist will set up an online care group for the client, connecting the client and the doctor via an online channel to regularly monitor the client's skin condition.
Follow-Up Appointments on Schedule
Clients are encouraged to follow their scheduled appointments for follow-up visits, which are completely free of charge.
