Four variables predict outcomes more than the machine does.
Hair colour and thickness. Light-based methods target pigment in the hair. Dark, coarse hair absorbs energy efficiently and responds most predictably. Blonde, red, grey and fine vellus hair carry little or no pigment, so they respond poorly regardless of the device — this is the honest limit of the technology, and no setting overcomes it.
